Nepal Intensive Care Research Foundation (NICRF) is a Not-for-Profit organization registered in Nepal, aiming to promote research activities for improving the quality of critical care medicine in Nepal.
We collaborate with different healthcare organizations and institutions, at national and global level, in order to build research capacity and implement collaborative research activities. NICRF implements ICU registry across different ICUs in Nepal in collaboration with Nepal Health Research Council.
To establish and implement the Nepal ICU Registry and Surveillance System.
To assess the ICU capacity in terms of logistics, infrastructure and human resources.
To describe the epidemiology, course and outcomes of patients admitted into intensive care units.
To assess the quality of existing care in ICU, using quantitative and qualitative methods.
To utilize this critical care network for knowledge sharing, better resource management, cost analysis and health care planning by the stakeholders.
To coordinate a national program for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) pandemic preparedness and surveillance through the registry.
To describe resource utilization in terms of staffing, patient acuity, specific treatments.
To support policy decision making to better utilize existing intensive care resources, further expansion of acute care facilities, plan allocation of resources.
To provide a benchmark to compare performance.
To trigger registry-based research in acute and critical care.
NICRF registry welcomes participation from Intensive Care Units across Nepal. Our agenda and focus is on the continuous evaluation and improvement of outcomes from critical Illness across ICUs. The registry currently has 15 ICUs and is constantly expanding.
